Perdue Foods Recalls Chicken Products Due to Metal and Bone Contamination

Perdue Foods has issued two recalls for separate incidents involving its chicken products.

The first recall is for 167,171 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat chicken nuggets and tenders due to the possible presence of metal fragments. The second recall is for 31,703 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken products that may be contaminated with bone material.

Products Affected by the Metal Contamination Recall:

  • Perdue Simply Smart Organics Gluten Free Chicken Nuggets, 22 oz. bag
  • Perdue Simply Smart Chicken Nuggets, 32 oz. bag
  • Perdue Simply Smart Chicken Tenders, 22 oz. bag

Products Affected by the Bone Contamination Recall:

  • Perdue Chicken Breast Tenders, 13 oz. bag
  • Perdue Chicken Nuggets, 15 oz. bag
  • Perdue Chicken Strips, 16 oz. bag

The products were produced at Perdue's Perry, Georgia facility between July 8, 2024 and August 8, 2024. They have been distributed to retail stores nationwide.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled products are urged not to consume them and to return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is investigating both incidents. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with either recall.
