It is an accepted species, meaning it is recognized as a valid taxonomic entity by botanical authorities. Bidens triplinervia was also cited as such by other authorities, including those who proposed an alternative taxonomy. However, it is now accepted under the genus Bidens, which includes approximately 230 species found worldwide.
