Plant Description and Characteristics

Bidens triplinervia is a Latin American species of flowering plants belonging to the sunflower family (Asteraceae). It is native to Mesoamerica and South America. This sprawling or ascending perennial herb can grow up to 40 cm tall and often branches below. Its stems are either glabrous (smooth) or pilose (covered in hairs).

Taxonomic History and Classification

The species Bidens triplinervia was first published by F.W.H. von Humboldt, A.J.A. Bonpland, and C.S. Kunth in November 1818. It is an accepted species, meaning it is recognized as a valid taxonomic entity by botanical authorities.
