Default Mode Boot Bug Affecting Linux Kernel 516

Default Mode Boot Bug Affecting Linux Kernel 516

Critical Issue Prevents System Startup

Urgent Fixes Required to Address the Problem

Attention, Linux users! A critical bug discovered in the latest Linux kernel version, 516, is preventing systems from booting into default mode. The issue arises when upgrading from previous versions, specifically from kernel 500.

Upon booting, users are greeted with a black boot screen accompanied by the following error message: "ACPI region does not cover the entire commandresponse. ACPI region does not cover the entire. Steps to reproduce the behavior. Cant request region for resource mem 0x7943a000. I will try to patch e820__reserve_resources_late to act as if the region 0xa2fff000-0xa2fff02f was.."

The bug stems from a problem where the ACPI region does not fully cover the expected command response, leading to the inability to request region for the specified memory address. This issue affects a wide range of systems and distributions using the Linux kernel, rendering them unable to boot into their intended operating mode.

To resolve the issue, developers are actively working on a patch to modify the e820__reserve_resources_late function to bypass the affected region. However, until the patch is officially released and applied, affected systems may experience difficulty booting into default mode.

In the meantime, users are advised to hold off on updating to kernel version 516 until a stable fix is available. Those who have already encountered the boot issue may need to rely on alternative boot methods or revert to a previous kernel version.
